We've just got home from our last competition of the season and a new one for this year Bodyflight Revenge. If you're not sure, the Revenge is a meet to see if you can beat/better your performance at Nationals (only a few weeks ago). For us it was another opportunity to do our best and have a lot of fun - as usual!
From the very first round, it was clear just how close our category was going to be. There was only 4 teams in AA category at this meet and every team on round one scored 17 points. Except, we also got two busts so that set us at the bottom to start off with. However, as the day went on we managed to work our way up the board, at one point going from joint second to joint first. There was only ever a couple of points between each teams, it was that close.
We didn't really have what we'd call a 'bad round' at this meet. Some were obviously slower than others but this was reflected in relatively even scores all round. On two of the ten rounds, we scored the highest round and one of the all-random rounds saw us score our highest competition round yet - 32 points!
So, after all 10 rounds had been scored we knew it was safe to say we would be taking Bronze in AA category. Something I don't think we'd come/been prepared for at all. Our overall score was 169 points, giving us an average of 16.9. This is only 0.5 less than we averaged at this years World Challenge in April, only then we were competing in Single A category. So we're pretty damn chuffed about that too. Lesley Gale of SkydiveMag.com had some lovely things to say about us in her write up and pointed out we were awarded the 'AA Revenge Award' for turning our 14th place and 9 average at Nationals last month into a 3rd place and 16.9 average.
So now competition season is over for 2014 which makes us all a little sad. We're already talking about what 2015 will bring. Sarah will be back jumping in around 4 weeks which is very exciting and hopefully we'll be competing with coaching from Steve Hamilton once again next year. We really have him to thank for agreeing to coach us and for really kicking our team flying into shape.
